THE New York City Commissioner for Immigrant Affairs has assured that the rights of Filipino immigrants are being protected regardless of their immigration status.

New York City Immigrant Affairs Commissioner Manuel Castro made this statement when he paid a courtesy call on Consul General Elmer G. Cato at the Philippine Consulate General on 7 June 2022.

During their meeting, Castro discussed the efforts of his office to protect the rights of migrants in New York.

Both officials also discussed steps that the City and the Consulate could collaborate on to address hate crimes and rising criminality and gun violence.
