Love1Love2‘LOVE Reset’ is a Korean romantic-comedy that just opened in South Korea but is now released right away in Manila to open this Wednesday, October 18. Hallyu is what they call the Korean wave in fashion, film and music and “Love Reset” topbills two of the biggest Hallyu stars, Kang Ha Neui (who just completed his compulsary military service) and Jung So Min (so very pretty on screen.)

Kang plays No Jeong Yeol, a lawyer, and Jung plays Hong Na Ra, a film producer. They fall so in love with each other but their respective families are against the match because they belong to different social status. It’s a you-and-me against the world affair for them and they get married despite the opposition from their folks.

But two years later, they are now singing a different tune. Their relationship has gone stale and the marriage didn’t work for them, so they file for divorce.

They get a 30-day divorce settlement period and, as they are leaving the courthouse, they both figure in an unforeseen car accident that causes them both to have amnesia. Losing their memories make them forget their grievances against each other and they eventually get enamoured with one another again.

But their respective families are determined to separate them for good and they cook up a plan for the couple to recall their ugly experiences with each other, so that they will still eventually push through with their planned divorce and make it final.

Will their folks succeed or will true love conquer all? The romcom works because there is undeniable romantic chemistry between the lead stars, Kang and Jung, who have both done a lot of romcoms in the past.

Their hilarious shenanigans as they go through their unusual, ribtickling experiences as an amnesiac couple will surely make you laugh out loud. The viewers at SM Megamall where we saw it were really roaring with laughter.

They do bicker a lot but it’s easy to guess that they still have feelings for each other, despite the meddlesome intervention of their “concerned” family members who want to make sure that they won’t make the same mistake of falling in love all over again.

Their families will try whatever means necessary to keep them apart. Their efforts and attempts to accomplish this end also evoke a lot of laughs from the audience. The film is well-acted not only by the leads but also the supporting cast, specially Hwang Se In as Jung’s younger sister who really did a great job.

We’ve seen a lot of movies about the main characters being given a second chance to redeem themselves. And if you go for such stories where love is lovelier the second time around, “Love Reset” is certainly a must watch.

The high point of these films is the point of reversal when the characters get to recall why they fell in love to begin with. As such, they learn to appreciate each other’s good qualities anew and vow to protect their romance at all costs.

In this respect, “Love Reset” is one enjoyable movie that will truly warm your hearts and also entertain you with its so many funny scenes, specially when their bad memories are allowed to surpass their good ones.
