Retired Airforce man ‘kills’ self while cleaning gun
A 74-YEAR-OLD former member of the Philippine Air Force on Tuesday accidentally shot himself while cleaning his gun inside his house in Bgy. Kumintang Ibaba, Batangas City.
Batangas City Police Station investigators PSMS Teodorico Magboo and P/SSg Jay-R Olave Identified the victim as Armando Malaluan Sr., a a retired Air force man residing at Villa Jose Subdivision, Bgy. Kumintang Ibaba, Batangas City.
The accidental firing incident transpired at Villa Jose Subdivision at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday.
Malaluan was cleaning his Remington 1911 cal. 45 45 gun at storage room of his residence when he accidentally pulled the trigger, hitting him in the body, which cause his instantaneous death.
A team of the Scene of the Crime Operatives led by Maj. Herminia Llacuna from the Batangas Provincial Forensic Unit arrived and conducted technical investigation.
Recovered at the crime scene were a Remington 1911 cal. 45 gun, one magazine loaded with five pieces of live ammunition, a holster, a gun cleaning kit, and one fired cartridge casing for the same gun.
An investigation is ongoing.
