Student couple busted in Laguna

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Canlubang, Calamba, Laguna – Police arrested a student-couple and seized some P1.2 million worth of marijuana in a buy-bust operation in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna.

In a report submitted to Police Regional Office 4A (Calabarzon) director Brig. Gen. Antonio Yarra by Laguna Provincial Police Director Col. Rogarth Campo, nabbed were Wilhem Amoroso Dueñas alias “Welhim,” and his live-in partner Diane Trisha Aguilar Sardan alias “Diane,” both 18-year-old students residing in Bgy. Sinalhan, Sta. Rosa City.

Police said the suspects were included in the high-value individuals’ list of the Sta. Rosa City police.

Sta. Rosa City Police Station chief Lt. Col. Paulito Sabulao said the young couple were arrested after handing over P2,000 worth of dried marijuana leaves to a police poseur.

Prior to the arrest, the Sta. Rosa Police Station received a telephone call informing of the illegal activity of the suspects.

The Drug Enforcement Team conducted a surveillance.

After the investigation yielded positive result, operatives immediately conducted the buy-bust.

“ Isang linggo na tinrabaho ng ating mga operatiba. Madulas ang suspects. Ang transaction nila eh online. Nagulat tayo ganun karami ang nakuha sa kanilang inuupahang bahay, more or less 10 kilos ng marijuana,” Sabulao said.

“Ang modus ng mga suspect ay through online selling at nilalagay nila ito sa water dispenser na maliit at nakalagay sa box. So, kung isang kilo ang inorder, di mo mahahalata dahil nakalagay sa water dispenser . Ipa-courier lang nila,” the Sta. Rosa police head further said.

Seized during the operation were 33 pieces of plastic- wrapped suspected dried leaves marijuana, 10 pieces of bricks of wrapped suspected dried marijuana worth P1.2 million, eight pieces of P100 suspected drug money, and two pieces of P1000 bill used as buy-bust money.

“Sabi ng mga kapitbahay doon, nagtataka rin sila kasi bago din lang nangungupahan eh madalas may kabataan doon sa area,” added Sabulao.

Charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 were filed against the arrested suspects.
