Red Cross warns vs COVID test booking scams
THE Philippine Red Cross yesterday warned the public not to fall prey to scammers when booking for COVID-19 testing with the premiere humanitarian organization in the country.
Senator Richard J. Gordon, PRC chairman and CEO, issued the warning after getting reports on the circulation of unauthorized booking sites for PRC, which target those flying in from abroad. He added the scamming scheme had several victims already.
“Huwag niyong samantalahin ang sitwasyon, marami na ang naghihirap dahil sa pandemya at huwag ng dagdagan ang problema ng inyong kapwa,” he warned the unscrupulous persons behind the scam.
The reported scam will collect booking fees and will link the victims to the PRC e-CIF, tricking them into thinking that they will be able to jump the queue with PRC for testing and results. PRC already took necessary actions to shut down the said scam sites.
