QUEZON City Police District (QCPD) chief Police Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said they have not recorded any election-related incidents, thus concluding the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in the city “generally peaceful.”

The collaboration of QCPD with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), along with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Quezon City local government unit and other stakeholders, was crucial in the conduct of the elections resulting in zero election-related violent incidents.

“We have maximized the deployment of personnel to man the 169 voting centers all over Quezon City in yesterday’s election.

There were 4,204 combined personnel from the QCPD and other augmentation forces from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and those undergoing mandatory training courses from the NCR Training Service who were recalled to render election duties,” the general said.

However, QCPD policemen arrested six individuals for violating the election liquor ban imposed on October 29, 2023.

Fifty-four suspects were arrested and 93 firearms were confiscated in line with the COMELEC-imposed gun ban.

Maranan commended his officers and men, along with the augmentation forces, for their vigilance to ensure fair, peaceful, orderly and successful elections.

“I am thankful that no untoward incident has transpired except for violations of liquor ban. Nagpapasalamat din ako sa mga mamamayan ng lungsod Quezon na naging malaking bahagi sila sa mapayapang eleksyon,” he added.

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief PGen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. commended the QCPD for their relentless efforts in securing the BSKE 2023.

Acorda said: “Yes satisfied ako for QCPD.”
