Two men were arrested for violating the nationwide gun ban imposed by the Commission of Elections which took effect last January 9, 2022.

PLTCOL Alexy Sonido, the Station Commander of PS 6, identified the COMELEC gun ban violator as Rodrigo Macawili, 55 years old while his cohort, Ephren Tajanlangit, 43 years old, both residents of Brgy. Commonwealth, Quezon City.

The report shows that at about 12:30 a.m. of January 12, 2022, a concerned citizen tipped off the police regarding an alleged alarm and scandal created by the suspects who were under the influence of liquor at Upper Nawasa, Brgy. Commonwealth, Quezon City.

Upon receiving the information, PS 6 personnel were immediately dispatched and upon arrival in the area, they saw the suspects still creating public disturbance which prompted the responding police officers to approach the suspects that led to the confiscation of caliber .38 pistol with serial 176482, six ammunition, and a knife with case.

The suspects will be charged before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for violation of Article 155 of the Revised Penal Code for Alarm and Scandal while additional charge will be filed against suspect Macawili for violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition in relation to COMELEC Resolution No. 10728 for Bearing and Carrying Firearm during the Election Period.

“The QCPD continues the strict enforcement of the COMELEC gun ban and intensifies anti-criminality operations in the city to ensure peaceful and safe Quezon City in preparation for the National and Local Elections. Any scandalous act that brings disturbance to public peace and that is deemed offensive to good customs, morals and public policy will never have a place in Quezon City,” said PBGEN Yarra.
