CAMP QUINTIN MERECIDO, Buhangin, Davao City – Police Regional Office 11 (PRO11) director Brig. Gen. Benjamin Silo Jr. led the send-off ceremony for 70 police officers to be deployed as Protective Security Personnel (PSP).

The 70, composed of 67 male and three female PNP (Philippine National Police) personnel, will provide temporary security, as ordered by PNP Chief General Dionardo Carlos.

“You were chosen because of your skills and your training. I would like you to remember some fundamental policies of the government in particular the Philippine National Police, during the elections. Una, our organization, should be apolitical, clear ba sa atin lahat,” Silo said.

“The very classic example of the PNP being applauded is being apolitical itself. We don’t allow the candidates to appear in the camps. That was a basic example of apolitical,” Silo told his men.

“Second, all members of the PNP should be non-partisan to enforce this basic policy of the government. Nakita ninyo naman November last year, we started relieving personnel who have relatives running for the political position for this National and Local Elections,” he added.

Silo stressed that their loyalty must remain to the government and not to the person they are tasked to secure.

The 70 police officers are tasked to provide security to those individuals as part of the noble work of a police officer for a safe and secure May 9 election.
