TWO Philippine Red Cross (PRC) food trucks arrived at 6:45 a.m. Sunday from Cebu Pier 4 to Nasipit Port in Butuan City to deliver food to residents hit by flooding and landslides in Mindanao.

PRC Chairman and CEO Dick Gordon directed the immediate deployment of the two food trucks that left Cebu last night for Agusan del Sur.

“We sent the two food trucks from Cebu immediately to provide additional hot meals to those affected by the situation in Mindanao,” said Gordon.

PRC Secretary General Dr. Gwen Pang said the PRC is continuously monitoring the situation in Mindanao.

As of Friday night, PRC Cagayan de Oro Regional Warehouse released 520 collapsible 20-liter jerry cans to PRC Davao del Norte Chapter; 1,000 collapsible 20-liter jerry cans to Davao de Oro Chapter; and another 1,000 20 jerry cans to Agusan del Norte to support communities affected by the shearliner trough of low pressure area (LPA).

These were loaded in a six-wheeler closed truck driven by John Paul Aclao and helper Jinmark Balacuit.

Meanwhile, the two food trucks in Davao de Oro marked their third day of distribution of hot meals to 1,128 individuals while the water tanker distributed 10,000 liters of water at Brgy. Elizalde to 248 individuals on its fourth day of operation Saturday.
