PRC responds swiftly to Sta. Cruz fire

THE Philippine Red Cross (PRC) demonstrated its unwavering commitment to emergency response and community support by swiftly addressing a recent fire incident that occurred in Oroquieta Street, Sta. Cruz, Manila.

The incident, which started around 2:51 a.m. on May 14, and reached the 5th alarm, has been successfully brought under control with the collective efforts of dedicated PRC personnel and partnering agencies.

PRC has actively responded to the situation, providing necessary assistance and support to those affected through the deployment of two firetrucks and 13 firefighters, three ambulance teams, with ten Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel.

The PRC provided immediate medical attention to 11 individuals affected by the fire incident. Eight individuals were treated on-site, while one individual, requiring further medical intervention, was safely transported to the Philippine Orthopedic Center.

The fire incident resulted in an estimated 150 houses being affected, causing distress and displacement for approximately 300 families. The evacuation center for affected residents has been set up at Bgy. 310 Covered Basketball Court.

“The swift response of the PRC demonstrates our unwavering commitment to saving lives and supporting communities in times of crisis,” said PRC Chairman Dick Gordon.

“Through the collective efforts of our dedicated personnel and partnering agencies, we have successfully brought the recent fire incident in Oroquieta St., Sta. Cruz, Manila under control. Our priority remains to provide immediate assistance and care to those affected. Together, we stand strong in our mission to serve and protect,” Gordon added.

The PRC acknowledged and commended the courageous efforts of the personnel involved, who worked diligently to bring the fire under control and provide vital assistance to the affected individuals and families.
