A PHILIPPINE National Police colonel accused of taking a secret video of his sex tryst with a married woman will be facing criminal and administrative charges that would merit his dismissal from the force, the Journal Group learned yesterday.

However, the name of the accused was withheld by the PNP leadership which explained that naming him would also lead to the identification of the complainant.

“There was a criminal case filed against that police officer but as to the facts and circumstances, I hope you understand that this is a sensitive matter which involves violation of certain laws.

Because the case is very sensitive, we opted not to identify the officer,” said PNP spokesperson Colonel Jean S. Fajardo.

Col. Fajardo said that the accused is now assigned at the Personnel Holding and Administrative Unit of the PNP Directorate for Personnel and Records Management.

“The PNP will be transparent in this case and if there is a clearance, we will reveal more facts. However, the fact is that the PNP is helping the woman and the leadership has ordered the relief of the accused who will also be charged administratively apart from the criminal case he would be facing,” the PNP spokesperson said.

The complainant earlier said that the police colonel took videos of their sex tryst without her knowledge and consent and that he used the sex video to force her to continue their illicit relationship.

She added that one of those sex videos ended up being forwarded to her daughter who happened to be a minor while a screen grab of the same video was sent to her husband.

As a result, the woman filed criminal charges against the 52-year-old official who is also married for violation of Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Law and RA 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act.

The PNP also has to seek clearance from President Marcos to proceed with the conduct of summary dismissal proceedings against the 3rd-level official.

COLLEAGUES DENOUNCE ACCUSED

Colleagues including classmates, superiors and subordinates of the accused have denounced him for his ungentlemanly act which they said is a big embarrassment to the 223,000-strong police force which is also celebrating Women’s Month.

Some officials said that the acts committed by the accused even ‘dwarfed’ that of Brigadier General Ranulfo Sevilla, the deputy commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Special Operations Command whose promotion was recently deferred by the Commission on Appointments after the latter’s wife and children accused him of domestic abuse.

Unlike the accused PNP official, the AFP official however was identified since his wife and children showed up during his scheduled confirmation by the Senate national defense committee.

The complainant against the PNP official told the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office that she met the accused when he ordered a nameplate sometime in December 2020 through a messaging app.

Their meeting came at a time when she was having a marital problem and it eventually blossomed into an extramarital affair, the woman said.

The complainant said she noticed that the accused was taking video of their intimate acts during their first meeting but he refused to delete them upon her demand.

The woman claimed that the accused repeatedly threatened to send their sex video to her husband each time she would try to end their relationship.

Their repeated trysts led to more sex videos being taped by the accused who eventually started borrowing a large amount of money from her, the woman claimed.

The woman included in her complaint the owner of the Facebook account who sent the sex video.
