PHILIPPINE National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) director, Brigadier General Ronald O. Lee on Thursday said they are probing at least five persons in connection with a fake appointment letter of the Bureau of Immigration commissioner bearing the forged signature of President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ R. Marcos Jr.

“Sa ngayon ay may limang tao po tayong na-identify, kung saan ang tatlo po ay napadalhan na ng subpoena sa kani-kanilang last known address. Samatala, ang dalawa pang personalidad ay patuloy na inaalam ang kasalukuyang tirahan,” the PNP-CIDG director said.

PNP chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. has ordered the PNP-CIDG to thoroughly investigate a fake BI appointment paper of lawyer Abraham Espejo bearing the forged signature of President Marcos and a fake government seal.

“With the ongoing investigation, we seek the cooperation and full support of those who were initially identified to uncover the truth through the information they will be providing. Likewise, all pieces of information will be subject to further evaluation and validation,” Brig. Gen. Lee said.

“Our appeal continues for those who may have information about the said incident. Seryoso po ang pangyayaring ito at magpapatuloy ang malalim na pasisiyasat para sa ikalulutas ng mapangahas na gawaing ito,” he added.

Lee said that following an order from President Marcos and Azurin, they launched the investigation aimed at identifying the persons behind the fake Malacañang document and filing criminal charges against them before the court.

Those involved in the unscrupulous act will be facing punishment for violation of Article 161 of the Revised Penal Code or counterfeiting the great seal of the Government of the Philippine Islands and forging the signature or stamp of the Chief Executive.

“Babantayan namin ito hanggang matunton natin ang may kagagawan. We are also encouraging our friends from the media to join us in seeking the truth and to come forward if they have any knowledge about this incident,” Lee said.
