PNP chief leads groundbreaking of COMPAC building in La Union

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO, La Union- Philippine National Police chief General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. led the groundbreaking ceremony of the PNP Community Police Assistance Center (COMPAC) Friday in Barangay Cuenca, Pugo, La Union.

The soon-to-rise COMPAC is a two-storey building with a floor area of 160 square meters with a total lot area of 200 square meters.

It will have two custodial facilities, two billeting rooms, an office, a kitchen, and a multi-purpose/conference room.

The construction costs will be sourced out from the PNP funds, while the lot was donated by the LGU of Pugo.

The activity was also attended by Gen. John Chua, PRO1 Regional Director, members of the Command Group, provincial directors, other key officers of PRO1, and Pogo, La Union Mayor Kurt Martin.

Azurin thanked the local government of Pugo, La Union for their generous support to the PNP as well as for their continuous participation in its activities. “The presence of this PAC will serve as an easy command force that will cater not only the constituents of Pugo but everyone who comes to visit this busy town, it being an alternate route to the City of Baguio,” he said.

COMPACs are PNP Satellite Stations located in strategic areas in various entry and exit points in a locality that serve as centers for quick and immediate action or response in any emergency situation. It is also of the purpose of ensuring public safety, maintenance of peace and order and deterrent to the commission of crimes.
