FILIPINO workers, known for their loyalty, integrity, honesty and dedication to work, are in great demand in the United States and other parts of the world.

In fact, our overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), men and women, are the “undisputed darlings” of many foreign employers.

That’s why we will not be surprised if the United Nations Security Council decides to tap our women as UN peacekeepers.

Various quarters, including government officials, believe that our highly-trained women are capable of easing conflicts in hot spots.

In a speech before the regular session of the UN Security Council, Environment Secretary Ma. Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga said PH is ready to share its relevant experence in forging peace in Mindanao.

Yulo-Loyzaga said the Philippines has always for a rules-based order.

Records show that the country has been joining UN peacekeeping operations in various parts of the world since 1963.

The records also show that close to 15,000 Filipinos have been deployed to 21 peacekeeping operations and special missions.

We commend the DENR secretary for offering the services of Filipina peacekeepers to the powerful UN Security Council.
