PHOEBE Walker won the Metro Manila Filmfest in 2016 for her role as a mysterious nun in “Seklusyon”. But her career didn’t take off as expected and for a while, she’s been playing short supporting roles. Now, she’s back doing a lead role in the suspense-thriller “Livescream”, produced by IdeaFirst Company for Vivamax and directed by Perci Intalan.

“I really want to thank IdeaFirst, Vivamax and Direk Perci for getting me to play the role of Amanda, the girlfriend of Elijah Canlas who’s older than him,” she says. “It’s a very challenging role kasi maraming physical scenes na ibinitin ako, tinorture ako, but after watching the movie in its press screening, it’s all worth it.”

Does this mean she will now be seen more often in Vivamax releases that offer a lot of steamy sex scenes? “Ay no, let’s leave it na lang to the young girls who are doing it for Vivamax. Hindi ko kaya ang pagka-daring ng ginagawa nila.”

Is it because her boyfriend, Rico Robles, is forbidding her to do such sexy scenes? “No naman. He’s very supportive to me nga. He’s very understanding kasi he knows I love to act. Siya nga, puede rin daw siya to go daring. It’s my own decision to lie low from doing daring scenes.”

That’s why she was so happy when “Livescream” was offered to her as it doesn’t require her to do sizzling bed scenes. “May love scene din kami ni Elijah Canlas but it’s nothing as bold as what they have now. Noong una nga, sabi ko, baka awkward kasi I’m older than him but it’s really part of the story, that Amanda, my character, is really older than Exo, Elijah’s character, and he’s really just using me to get more subscribers for his vlog.”

But she got excited with the prospect of working with Elijah. “I know that at a young age, he already won acting awards here and abroad,” she says. “Lagi kong nababasa, ang galing-galing daw niya, so I want to experience working with him. And it’s true. I believe in his dedication to his craft kasi napakahirap ng role niya, physically and emotionally. I was challenged na makipagsabayan sa kahusayan niya. Meron scene dito na nagmumurahan kami, sagutan while trying to put down each other. Ang ganda lumabas, talagang tumatawa ang audience, which is the intention of the scene. I also like the material kasi it’s about content creators who collaborate and then, later, nag-away.”
