PH detects 633 new COVID-19 variant cases
THE Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday reported 633 additional cases of COVID-19 variants of concern, including 339 new cases of the highly transmissible Delta variant.
The 633 new cases were detected from 748 samples that underwent genome sequencing, the DOH said. It includes samples taken from a few months ago, it added.
Among the new infections, 186 are Beta variant cases, 98 are Alpha variant cases, nine are P.3 variant cases, and one is Gamma variant case.
With the additional cases, there are now 3,366 Delta variant cases in the country. It was followed by the Beta variant with 2,920 cases, Alpha variant with 2,559 cases, P.3 variant with 461 cases, and Gamma with three.
Of the 633 additional cases, 609 are local cases, 17 are returning overseas Filipinos, and seven others are still for verification.
Moreover, the DOH said that 616 have already recovered from the COVID-19 variants, 10 died, and five are active cases. By CNN Philippines Staff
