PH condoles with UAE for passing of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan
THE Philippines condoled with the peoples of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the passing of His Highness President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He was 73 years old.
In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said “the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Filipino nation stand in solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and its people as they mourn the passing of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.”
During His Highness Sheikh Khalifa’s eighteen years as President, starting in 2004, he steered the UAE with wisdom and tolerance towards becoming a global economic powerhouse, the DFA said.
The same statement added “His Highness’ legacy has secured a bright future for his country’s future generations.”
On Saturday, Hjayceelyn Quintana, Philippine Ambassador to the UAE “expressed heartfelt gratitude for what His Highness
Sheikh Khalifa has done as the highest leader and great friend of many nations during his illustrious lifetime”.
The UAE is one of the top remittance sources of the Philippines as there are over 800,000 Filipinos working in the Middle East country. By Cristina Lee-Pisco
