THE Pasay City government announced its partnership with VOLeaders Academy, a renowned leadership program for student-athletes at the University of Tennessee aimed to cultivate student-athlete leaders through sport to create positive social change.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano and Councilor Joey Calixto Isidro said the VOLeaders Academy is an academic-based program that combines leadership development with sport for change work.

As part of their culminating experience, they have organized a 10-day international program to introduce their student-athletes to elite sports in various countries and explore how sport can have a positive impact on communities.

In January 2023, discussions between Joey Calixto-Isidro and VOLeaders representatives laid the foundation for this exciting partnership. Pasay City is honored to host VOLeaders Academy this month and looks forward to engaging with the talented students of Pasay City.

Thirty athletes from the University of Tennessee, along with staff from their athletics department yesterday gathered during the Sportsfest event at the Jose Rizal Elementary School in Pasay City.
