AUTHORITIES seized more than P2.3 million worth of shabu from one of the two drug personalities during the conduct of “Oplan Galugad” Wednesday evening in Taguig City.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/BGen. Jimili Macaraeg said joint operatives of the Taguig Sub-Station 9, Mobile Patrol Unit (MPU) and Taguig Peace and Order Unit (TPOU), under the supervision of Taguig police chief P/Col. Celso Rodriguez, were conducting Oplan Galugad at around 8:15 p.m. along Road 19, Maguindanao Avenue, New Lower Bicutan when they saw an ongoing illegal drug transaction between two men.

When the suspects sensed the presence of policemen, they immediately scampered to different directions prompting lawmen to give chase that resulted in the arrest of one of the suspects identified as Omie Salik, 24, a resident of Taguig City.

The other unidentified suspect managed to escape.

When frisked, Salik yielded seven plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 350 grams with standard drug price of P2.38 million and P5,000 in different denominations.

“Patuloy po ang aming pag sasagawa ng operasyon kontra illegal na droga sa ating nasasakupan at ang Oplan Galugad ay isang paraan na aming nakikita upang maiwasan at mahuli ang mga taong may masamang tangka na guluhin at sirain ang katahimikan ng ating komunidad” BGen. Macaraeg said.
