A COUPLE, identified by authorities as “high-value individuals” (HVI), yielded more than P1.3 million worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation Thursday evening in Caloocan City.

Caloocan Police Chief P/Col. Samuel Mina, Jr. said the arrested couple, both residing at Bgy. 176, Caloocan City stemmed from a week-long validation, surveillance, and monitoring against the suspects following information received by operatives of Caloocan Police Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) from their informant about their illegal drug activities.

At around 11:50 p.m., DEU operatives led by P/Lt. Gilmer Marinas and elements of Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) of NCRPO (National Capital Region Police Office) conducted a drug sting operation at Neo Vista Homes, Bgy. 171, which resulted in the arrest of the suspects.

Case investigator P/MSgt. Rico Mar William Bonifacio said the couple transacted with P/Cpl. Zander Jhan Ibañez of DEU who acted as poseur-buyer exchanging a plastic sachet of shabu for P45,000 marked money.

Authorities recovered around 200 grams of shabu valued at P1,360,000, a digital weighing scale, and the marked money.

Sgt. Bonifacio said the two are presently detained at the Caloocan Police DEU Custodial Facility pending the filing of charges for violation of Section 5 and Section 11, Article II of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002
