AN anti-narcotics operation in General Trias City in Cavite on Saturday morning led to arresting a “high-value target” (HVT) and recovering some two kilograms of shabu worth P6.8 million, which the latter sold to an undercover officer of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), officials said.

Members of the PDEA Regional Office 4-A, with the assistance of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 4-A Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) and the General Trias City Police Station, arrested the HVT during the 9 a.m. sting in Governor’s Hill Subdivision in Barangay Biclatan.

Recovered during the buy-bust operation were a box containing an estimated 2,000 grams of the so-called “poor man’s cocaine” valued at P6.8 million, the buy-bust money, and a weighing scale.

The suspect’s three mobile phones and identification cards were also seized by the PDEA team, a report to PDEA chair, Director General Moro Virgilio M. Lazo said.

In Angeles City, local policemen arrested two Nigerian nationals after they conspired to sell around P1.7 million worth of shabu to an agent, said PRO 3 Director Brigadier Gen. Cesar Pasiwen.

The suspects yielded an estimated 250 grams of shabu valued at P1.7 million during the sting at the transport terminal of a mall near the Angeles City Hall in Bgy. Pulung Maragul around 12:10 a.m. Saturday.

All suspects now face non-bailable charges for selling and possessing prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Pasiwen also said they are investigating the possible connection of the two suspects to a “West African Drug Syndicate” notorious for smuggling and distributing shabu and other dangerous drugs in the country.
