New CAAP director general takes oath

CAPTAIN Manuel Antonio Tamayo took his oath of office as director general of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Monday, November 14, 2022.

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista administered the ceremony.

Capt. Tamayo is a licensed pilot with 42 years of experience in the aviation industry, owing his flying prowess to the Philippine Air Force (PAF), where he started his flying career. He graduated in 1975 from the Philippine Air Force Flying School.

Before being the Director General of CAAP, Tamayo was appointed by former President Rodrigo Duterte as Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports under DOTr.

As undersecretary for aviation, Tamayo participated and worked towards the launch and completion of 217 airport development projects.

Alongside Tamayo, the respective appointees to the position of CAAP Deputy Director General for Administration, Assistant Director General (ADG) II/Air Traffic Service (ATS), ADG II/CAAP Security and Intelligence Service (CSIS), and Corporate Executive Officer V/Head Executive Assistant also took their oath Monday.
