New Anti-OSAEC law effective, protects children
SENATOR Risa Hontiveros lauded Friday, October 21, that the new Anti-OSAEC (Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children) Law is finally working and protecting the lives of innocent people, specifically children.
She further said that 20 such websites that portray child sexual abuse and exploitation materials had been officially “blocked.”
“Binigyan din ng NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) ng kopya ang opisina ko ng mga links na inaksyunan nila. Bilang principal author ng batas, this is a very positive development in our fight against OSAEC,” she said.
According to NBI Cybercrime Unit, in compliance with the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) Law, PLDT has acted upon their request to remove said abusive websites.
“Dagdag pa nila, mas marami pang mga links at pictures ang maaaring ma-takedown,” Hontiveros said as she thanked NBI the and private sector such as PLDT for their immediate action.
“It gives me joy to see all of us working together to truly shut down OSAEC. Dahil sa ating pagtutulungan at pagkakaisa, tiyak na mas marami tayong mapagtatagumpayan para sa ating mga anak,” the lady senator said.
She urged everyone to report OSAEC cases to the NBI so that said abuse can be terminated and encouraged victims to come out in the open.
The lady solon said it is about time that “we put behind bars those culprits who are using children as prey to propagate their criminal activities.”
“Sa ating mga kababayan, kung mayroon kayong alam o nakitang mga OSAEC cases, mga larawan man o websites, mangyaring i-report ito sa ating law enforcers tulad ng NBI. Patuloy tayong mag-ambagan nang tuluyan nang matuldukan ang pang-aabuso at pansasamantala sa ating mga bata,” Hontiveros said.
