UNIVERSITY of Luzon pulled off a king-sized 77-63 upset win against home team PATTS College of Aeronautics while the Asian Institute of Maritime Studies proved too strong for Lyceum of the Philippines University Laguna, 75-58, in the 30th NCRAA (National Capital Region Athletic Association) basketball tournament at the PATTS gymnasium last Wednesday.

Jhomel Sansano, Ventax Begenio and Michael Lambino led the Golden Tigers of coach BJ Vidal as they pulled the rug from under the Seahorses.

Sansano topscored with 23 points on 7-of-19 shooting from the field, seven rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks in 33 minutes of action.

Begenio added 17 points and six rebounds, while Lambino contributed a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds for the Golden Tigers, who improved their record to three wins and five losses.

Marjun Wahing carried the fight for the SeaHorses of coach Lensy Aranzaso with 16 points on 4-of-11 shooting, and six rebounds in 33 minutes of playing.

Joshua Bongon and Emman Benitez added 14 points each.

Bongon also had 10 assists and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Ric Munsayac and Jerico Peralta teamed up to power the Kiko Flores mentored-Blue Sharks to victory.

Munsayac tallied 19 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the floor and grabbed five rebounds in 26 minutes of play, while Peralta added 17 points to power the Blue Sharks in securing their second straight victory and 7-2 win-loss overall in the prestigious, 11-team tournament.

Karlos Lapira contributed 11 points and five rebounds, while JB Ramterre chipped in with 10 points and six steals for the Pasay-based team.

Only two players scored in double figures for the Laguna-based Pirates, coached by Michael Sydiangco.

Ivan Landicho and Jeff Gelamucho showed the way for LPU-Laguna with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
