MATAPOS ang 22 taong paghihintay, nabayaran na ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang retirement pay ng 145 na empleyado ng Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation o IBC 13.

Natanggap ng mga empleyado ang retirement pay makalipas ang mahigit dalawang dekada sa pagsusumikap na rin ni Pangulong Marcos.

Nasa P500 milyon ang kabuuang retirement payment ang ibinayad sa mga empleyado.

Nabatid na 25 sa mga retirees ang pumanaw na nang hindi man lang natikman ang retirement pay.

Nasa 28 management teams ang dumaan sa IBC 13 bago nabayaran ang mga empleyado.

Ang IBC-13, kasama ang mga government-owned media companies — gaya ng Peoples Television Network, Presidential Broadcast Service-Bureau of Broadcast Services — ay media arm ng Presidential Communications Office (PCO) na pinamumunuan ni Secretary Cheloy Garafil.

Ayon kay Garafil, ang pagbabayad sa retirement pay ay isa sa mga marching orders ni Pangulong Marcos.

“The President gave the instruction to help resolve their claims as addressing the welfare of media workers is one of the cornerstones of his administration and of the PCO. So it is a great honor for me to be able to be part of this much-awaited and much-deserved awarding of benefits to our colleagues in the media,” pahayag ni Garafil.

Sinabi naman ni IBC-13 President at CEO Jimmie Policarpio na nasa 200 pamilya ang nakinabang.

Karamihan aniya sa mga natitirang retirees ay may mga maintenance nagamit habang ang iba ay may malamang sakit na.

“With spirits of thanksgiving, they can now look forward to enjoying their waning years with dignity and pride in having served God, country and people,” pahayag ni Policarpio.

Nagpasalamat naman si Policarpio kay Pangulong Marcos, Garafil at iba pa.
