NCRAA: PATTS sinks PMMS, EAC clobbers Lyceum

PATTS College of Aeronautics and Emilio Aguinaldo College-Cavite pulled off contrasting victories over their respective opponents in the 30th NCRAA men’s basketball at the PATTS gymnasium in Parañaque.

PATTS outsteadied Philippine Merchant Marine School, 68-59, while EAC-Cavite overpowered Lyceum of the Philippines University-Laguna, 77-50.

Joshua Bongon led PATTS as he finished with 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field, three assists, two rebounds and two steals in almost 32 minutes of play for coach Lensy Aranzaso.

Aldrich Lopez contributed 12 points, six rebounds, and four assists for PATTS, which improved to a 2-3 record.

Sec Butao and Marjun Wahing added 11 and 10 points, respectively, as PATTS ended PMMS’ three-game winning streak.

Joaquin Octavo finished with a double-double performance of 15 points and 11 rebounds for coach Aldrin Morante-mentored PMMS, which dropped to 3-3.

Vince Salonga added 15 points and six rebounds while Jerome Jaucian had 13 points and five rebounds.

The duo of Kerwin Urate and Kaiden Padilla led the balanced scoring attack for the Cavite-based Vanguards of coach Azlie Guro.

Urate finished with 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field and grabbed four rebounds, while Padilla contributed 14 points and five assists to lead the Vanguards, who ended their two-game losing streak and climbed to 3-3.

CJ Quirap contributed with 10 points.

Ivan Landicho led the Laguna-based Pirates of coach Michael Sydiangco with 11 points.

Shakur Abogado added 10 points for LPU, which fell to 0-6.

Meanwhile, defending champion Immaculada Concepcion College rode on the hot hands of Alfred Flores to beat University of Luzon 77-72, and claim its fifth straight victory.

Flores fired 27 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and four steals for the Blue Hawks of coach Ogie Gumatay, who improved to 6-2.

Jared Vento and Janwell Famaranco added nine points each. Famaranco also had nine rebounds while Vento with seven rebounds.

Datu Borja spearheaded the scoring for the Golden Tigers with 17 points, five assists and three rebounds for coach BJ Vidal.

They dropped to 1-4.

Ventax Begenio added a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds while Herman Camba chipped in with 11 points.

In the juniors division, LPU-Laguna held off EAC-Cavite, 64-63, behind Nuro Medrano’s triple-double to kick off its campaign.

Lloys Vicente and Nuro Medrano combined for 39 points for coach Eduardo Montierro.

Vicente finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Medrano added 19 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

Kurt Tenedero led the losing effort for EAC-Cavite with 17 points while Shin Esguerra and Deniel Bulanadi added 14 points each for coach Dennis Rasing.

In the women’s division, Eula Atienza scored 22 points to lift De La Salle University-Dasmariñas of coach Andres Canlas.

Atienza fired 10-of-16 from the field, seven rebounds and three steals.

Arlyn Palad spearheaded EAC-Cavite with 13 points for coach Maria Theresa Magno.
