MC-riding men kill Ecija farmer
CABANATUAN CITY – A farmer driving a Honda Fit hatchback was peppered with bullets by two unidentified motorcycle (MC)-riding men while about to enter his house on Sunday morning here.
Police identified the slain victim as Elmer Reyes, 57, widow, of Purok 5, Bgy. Pula, this city.
The killing transpired while the victim was about to enter his garage at 8:25 a.m.
The two suspects aboard a motorcycle drove alongside his car, and the back rider fired multiple shots at the victim, causing his instantaneous death.
A follow-up investigation using leads provided by CCTV (closed-circuit television) camera footage gathered near the crime scene, and witnesses’ accounts led authorities to the gunman’s arrest, according to SSgt. Xavier Corpuz, case prober.
Corpuz said probers are initially looking if the killing was related to an earlier murder incident in San Leonardo wherein the victim’s brother was also slain.
