POLICE seized a hand grenade, gun, ammunition and shabu from a 27-year-old man who was accosted for not wearing face mask Wednesday afternoon in Taguig City.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/BGen. Jimili Macaraeg said elements of the Taguig Police Sub-Station 9 led by P/Maj. Crisanto Agualin arrested Jamiran Cayagcag at around 4:05 p.m. along Roldan St. New Lower Bicutan when he tried to evade lawmen.

Agualin, together with elements of Taguig Police Mobile Patrol Unit (MPU) and Taguig Peace and Order Unit (TPOU), were conducting Oplan Galugad/Anti-Criminality Operation in the area when they chanced upon Cayagcag roaming around without a face mask.

When lawmen approached, Cayagcag tried to escape by running towards an alley, but was later cornered after a brief chase.

Policemen recovered from the suspect’s possession a hand grenade, caliber .38 revolver with four live ammunition and plastic sachet containing suspected shabu weighing more or less 25grams with standard drug price amounting to ₱170,000.00.

“As one of my marching orders when I assumed post as SPD Director is to strengthen anti criminality operation, our personnel will not cease to arrest those who get involved in illegal activities.” BGen. Macaraeg said.

The suspect was presented for inquest proceedings before the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office on charges for violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), RA 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Act), RA 9516 (Possession of Explosive) and City Ordinance No.12 Series of 2020.
