Triker sans mask draws gun, engages cops in wild chase

A 48-YEAR-OLD tricycle driver who was accosted for not wearing a face mask drew a gun and engaged policemen in a wild chase in Tondo, Manila on Wednesday afternoon.

P/ Lt.Col.Harry Ruiz Lorenzo III, Station Commander of the Manila Police District – Station 7, identified the suspect as Edgar Fajardo, of Yuseco Street in Tondo.

Prober P/ Cpl.Mark Anthony Navarro said that at around 2:20 p.m., Pat. Sir Christian Joseph Pineda of the Tayuman Police Community Precinct was conducting routine patrol when they saw the suspect without a face mask along Yuseco Street near the corner of Jose Abad Santos Avenue in Tondo.

When they approached and accosted him, the suspect drew a gun from his bag, pushed the cop and then ran toward an alley.

Pineda and his companions pursued and cornered the suspect and took possession of his gun.

Fajardo is under investigation and verification. Charges for illegal possesion of firearm and violation of Manila City Ordinance 8627 were filed agains him.
