Man shot dead inside pal’s house in Batangas
POLICE are still hunting the suspect who killed a 48-year-old man while inside his friend’s home in Sitio Lotehan, Barangay Buhaynasap, San Juan, Batangas, the other day.
San Juan Municipal Police Station head cop Maj. Rheden M. Manalo identified the victim as Ferdinand S. Perez, married, and a resident of Bgy. Pulangbato, San Juan.
The suspect, Manalo said was identified as Rodrigo B. Cortas, 52, and of Bgy. Buhaynasapa.
The shooting incident occurred at Sitio Lotehan, Bgy. Buhaynasapa at 10:10 p.m. was reported to the police by concerned citizens.
Initial investigation revealed that the victim was inside his friend’s house drinking coffee around 9:35 p.m. when the suspect suddenly arrived and, without any apparent reason, drew his short firearm and shot the victim several times in the body, which caused his instantaneous death.
The suspect fled on foot, headed in an unknown direction, witnesses said.
Authorities recovered two pieces of deformed fired bullets from an unknown type of firearm, while the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team is still conducting a technical investigation at the scene.
The victim’s body was taken to Bayani Funeral Home for an autopsy.
