Man holds own family hostage

A MAN was shot by responding authorities after he allegedly held his family hostage reportedly in a fit of jealousy Sunday in Barangay Anabu 2-D, Imus City, Cavite.

Allegedly held hostage were the suspect’s 40-year-old wife, a merchandiser, 17-year-old daughter, and three sons, 16, 14 and 11-year-old, respectively.

According to a police report, initial investigation showed the suspect was armed with short firearm, a Smith and Wesson revolver loaded with four live ammunition when he held his family hostage at about 12:50 a.m. Cavite police immediately proceeded to the area.

Upon assessment of the situation, the police team decided to immediately subdue the suspect.

The suspect upon seeing the lawmen, allegedly pointed his firearm towards the police team.

The police team responded by discharging their firearms in self-defense.

The subject sustained gunshot wounds in the chest and was rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment.
