Lola, 63, nabbed for P3K theft
A SEXAGENARIAN woman was arrested for allegedly stealing the money of another senior citizen in Quezon City on Sunday.
The 63-year-old suspect is now detained at the Cubao Police Station.
A report from the Cubao Police Station showed that at 10:50 a.m. of May 28, 2023, a female senior citizen was waiting for a jeepney along Aurora Boulevard, corner General Araneta, Barangay Socorro, Cubao, QC, when the suspect approached her and “befriended” her.
The suspect reportedly told the victim she was also “waiting for a jeepney.”
At the height of their conversation, the suspect asked the victim if she has a senior citizen ID.
While the victim was looking for her ID in her bag, the suspect reportedly took the victim’s wallet containing P3,000.
However, another passenger witnessed what happened. The witness confronted the suspect, and a heated argument ensued.
Police officers who were conducting an anti-criminality patrol in the area noticed the commotion and immediately responded, which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
The suspect will be charged with theft before the QC Prosecutor’s Office.
