VICE President Leni Robredo cannot attend the inauguration of Vice President-elect Sara Duterte on June 19 in Davao City.

This was confirmed by Duterte herself, as she was told by the sitting vice president that the inauguration coincides with the Naga Charter Day on the same weekend.

Duterte’s camp invited all the past presidents and vice presidents of the country to witness her inauguration.

To date, Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who was then a vice president under President Joseph Estrada’s administration, confirmed her attendance.

“Wala na pong schedule na magkita kami face-to-face with Vice President Leni Robredo. Nagconfirm na hindi siya makaattend because of the Naga Charter Day,” Duterte said in an interview.

“Ang nag-confirm na dadalo is former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo,” she added.

She also invited {resident-elect Bongbong Marcos and her father President Rodrigo Duterte.

In a separate statement, Sara’s spokesperson Liloan Mayor Christina Frasco confirmed that President Duterte would attend his daughter’s inauguration.

Last month, Duterte announced that she has chosen to take her oath in Davao on June 19 — 11 days ahead of the start of her term — so her fellow Dabawenyos can witness it, and so she could attend President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s inauguration on June 30.

Duterte’s term of office will officially start at noon of June 30, as stated in the Constitution.
