Lemery village chief shot dead
A VILLAGE chairman was killed after being shot randomly by unidentified motorcycle-riding men while driving his sports utility vehicle (SUV) together with some occupants while traversing along the highway of Barangay Ayao-Iyao, Lemery, Batangas, Tuesday afternoon.
The victim was a resident of Barangay District 3, Lemery.
Based on the initial investigation, the victim was driving a black Toyota Fortuner SUV with three other passengers when the two suspects on board a Suzuki motorcycle came from behind and suddenly fired at the victim, hitting him several times.
The SUV’s passengers said the suspects managed to escape towards Calaca town direction.
The victim was rushed to Metro-Lemery, Medical Center but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.
As of this writing, Lemery MPS (Municipal Police Station) is still conducting hot pursuit operations against the suspects.
Local authorities also requested technical assistance from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team and an autopsy of the victim.
