Korean, Pinay pal nabbed in Makati sting
A KOREAN national and his Filipina pal were arrested by agents of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group and yielded over P1.7 million worth of shabu in a controlled delivery operation on Monday in Makati City.
Arrested during the anti-drug operation at the SM Jazz Residence located on Nicanor Garcia Street in Bel-Air, Makati City were Korean national Choi Sol, 38, of Ricarte Street. Phase 4, AFPOVAI in Western Bicutan, Taguig City, and Angeline Claire Nacua, 25, of Unit 603 SM Jazz Residence.
PNP Drug Enforcement Group director Brigadier General Narcisco D. Domingo said that the two were arrested after they received a parcel containing 255 grams of shabu valued at P1,7340,000.
The drugs wrapped in a plastic pouch covered with aluminum foil were found stuffed in an antique French phone shipped by one Bleu Griotte of Marceau Leandres 17, Grande Rue , Lyon, France and consigned to Nacua.
The suspects were charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Brig. Gen. Domingo also reported to PNP chief General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. the arrest of 81 suspects and the confiscation of nearly 28 million of shabu and marijuana last month by his men without any shots being fired last month.
The official said that from January 23 to 29, they went after High-Value Individuals, Street-Level Individuals and marijuana cultivators as part of their stepped-up drug supply reduction effort.
He said that during the period, different PNP-DEG field units conducted 20 buy-bust operations, served 33 warrants of arrest and two search warrants for violation of RA 9165 and conducted two marijuana eradication drives which led to the arrest of the 81 suspects.
Those operations led to the confiscation of 674.85 grams of shabu and nearly 111,000 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants with a total value of P27,910,980, based on the Dangerous Drugs Board computation.
