PHILIPPINE National Police chief General Dionardo B. Carlos yesterday ordered his men to keep a close watch on children in areas under Alert Level 2 as he appealed to parents to ensure that all members of their families, their kids included, will fully comply with minimum public health safety protocols to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

“We are appealing again to the parents or guardians to take the responsibility of monitoring their minor companion since there isn’t any age restriction for those who wish to go outdoors,” the top cop said.

Gen. Carlos said they are set to recalibrate their action plan in response to Inter-Agency Task Force decision to downgrade to Level 2 the alert status in the National Capital Region and seven other areas until February 15.

Under alert level 2, children are allowed to go outdoors.

The PNP chief asked the parents and adults if there is no important purpose of bringing the minors outside, then it is better to keep them at home to avoid being caught up in crowded places.

However, he assured the public that they have already mapped out the deployment of their men in the concerned areas.

“We advise our unit commanders to verify the adjustments in policies that the LGUs may implement in their locality,” Gen. Carlos said.
