Jeri’s childhood dream comes true
SINGER Jeri Violago was formally launched along with his first single, “Gusto Kita”, composed for him by hitmaker Vehnee Saturno and released via Tarsier Records. Jeri is 22-years old and has a business management degree, cum laude, from Ateneo but he looks like a teenager.
After his graduation last year, his parents, Joselito and Chiqui Violago, offered him an important position in their family’s rice mill business in San Jose, Nueva Ecija. But Jeri turned it down and told his parents he wants to pursue a career in music.
The youngest in a brood of five, his older siblings are all successful professionals, one of them being a doctor. It’s only Jeri who wants to foray into showbusiness and they’re all very supportive of him.
He signed up with ABS-CBN as a recording artist, as a song writer and also as a record producer. Exec Jonathan Manalo believes that Jeri’s career is mainly anchors on his solid vocal talent.
At the Ateneo grade school, he won as grand champion in their singing competition in 2011. In high school, his group won the top prize at the Musikapella contest in 2014. He was an officer of the Ateneo Senior High School Glee Club.
Jeri is so versatile as a singer that when performing live, he could easily shift from various music genres like pop, swing, jazz to Broadway hits, R&B and soul.
“I love Original Pilipino Music and I dream that one day, I would be given the chance to collaborate with our hitmakers today,” he says.
Vehnee Saturno says: “Jeri has all the good qualities to make him a top singing heartthrob. He’s got a good voice, he’s well bred, he’s good looking and very talented and he has great appeal to the fans.”
Jeri studied with Prof. Luz Martinez of the UP Conservatory of Music and Madrigal Singers, and also at the Ryan Cayabyab Music School. He dreams of having his own solo concert in the future.
“Gusto Kita” is a sweet love song that simply declares the singer’s honest feelings for the object of his offection. It is now playing on WishFN 107.5, Evergy 106.7, Star FM, and WinFM 91.5.
It is also heard on radio station across Visayas and Mindanao. Aside from “Gusto Kita”, Vehnee has composed another potential hit for him, “Ipapangako Ko”.
