THE Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) announced the opening of application or recommendation for five vacant posts in the Court of Appeals.

The Deputy Ombudsman for the Visayas is likewise open for application since the term of Paul Elmer Clemente will end this November.

One of the vacant CA seats was left by associate justice Priscilla Baltazar-Padilla, who was appointed to the Supreme Court.

However, she opted for an early retirement, which the high court approved.

The other CA vacant posts are those vacated by Associate Justice Stephen Cruz, who retired last Aug. 3, 2020; Associate Justice Celia C. Librea Leagogo, who retired on Dec. 15, 2020; Associate Justice Ricardode Rivera Rosario w, who was promoted to the SC last Oct. 8, 2020; and Associate Justice Remedios Salazar Fernando, who was promoted as CA presiding justice on Nov. 4, 2020.

The JBC is constitutionally mandated to screen applicants for vacant posts in the judiciary and the Offices of the Ombudsman and Deputy Ombudsman.
