James, Ina deny romantic link
ACTOR James Blanco doesn’t play lead actress Ina Alegre’s leading man in the movie, ’40 Days’ but some wagging tongues want to wedge in some malice pertaining to the closeness of the two.
There have been talks that even when James wasn’t involved in the shoot, he was seen on the set, near the beauty queen-turned-actress-politician.
At the press conference for the movie after its premiere night in Pola, Oriental Mindoro (where Ina, also known as Jennifer M. Cruz is currently town mayor), a brave movie writer asked the two about it. Quickly, Mayor Ina defends their closeness: “We have long been friends, and he’s helping me polish my acting. You see, I’ve not acted in the movies for a long time and I had a hard time getting into my character. He was there to coach me.”
“That’s right,” James said. “And aside from being her coach, I am training informally under director Buboy Tan as I hope to direct a movie soon. We’re not getting any younger and I want to do other things aside from acting. We should be flexible in this business.”
People around them know too well that Mayor Ina is married to Police General Gilbert Cruz, while James is a happy and responsible family man.
’40 Days’, a story about a mother and her struggles during the pandemic, will surely tug at the heartstrings of moviegoers. Produced by ComGuild Arts, it also stars Michelle Vito (as James’ wife), award-winning indie actress Cataleya Surio and You Tube sensation Mygz Molino. Its producers are now negotiating for its possible exhibition abroad and in the top streaming app, Netflix.
