VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur –For eight consecutive years, members of the rescue team in this province was recognized again recently for being “fully compliant” in a ceremony at the “22nd Gawad KALASAG Seal for Local DRRM Councils and Offices. “

Regarded in high esteem, the head of Ilocos Sur Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council is businessman Michael Chan based here who was cited for organizing and boosting the rescue capability of the team in responding during times of calamities.

Newsmen learned this was the 8th time that the rescue team under the leadership of Chan has bagged the prestigious award since they have been recognized and bagging since 2016.

In times of emergencies and calamities even during wee hours in the night, Chan and his group were so active quick, risking their lives and limbs, in responding to their constituents in need of emergency assistance during typhoons, earthquakes, among others.

Chan said the most recent achievement of the council as one of the Fully Compliant provinces was awarded during the 22nd Gawad KALASAG Seal for Local DRRM Councils and Offices.

The said award was organized by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) through the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

DRRM Officer Chan proudly reported the consistency of the rescue team in receiving such commendations and recognitions way since 2016.
