WINNING their first-ever PBA championship is a good motivation for both Brian Heruela and Glenn Khobuntin of Talk N Text Tropang Giga.

Now they want more.

Speaking at the “Usapang Sports on Air” by the Tabloids Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS) last Nov. 4, Heruela and Khobuntin said they now look forward to winning more championships with the Tropang Giga and coach Chot Reyes.

“Back in 2019, I was with Talk N Text and we went to the finals but lost. This was kind of unfinished business for me, so it’s such a blessing and great opportunity for me to be back in the team,” said Heruela, who was drafted No. 26 overall by Blackwater Elite during the 2014 PBA Draft.

“Hopefully this is just the beginning. We just have to continue to get better as an individual and as a team. We are definitely looking forward for a chance for next conference again,”added the 32-year-old Fil-Am standout from University of Cebu.

“To have this winning experience is a blessing. This is my first time to play in the PBA finals tapos nag-champion agad sa Philippine Cup pa,”said Khobuntin during weekly public service program sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and Games and Amusements Board (GAB)

“Magandang experience sa aking career yung may mga taong nakapaligid sa akin, na sobrang talented at sobrang hardworking gaya nina Coach Chot at Coach Josh. Nakita ko yung work nila na very precise na pati mga detalye ibibigay na lang sa iyo. Focus na lang kailangan. Sobrang happy ako na napunta sa franchise na ito. Grabe yun work ethic na tingin ko madadala ko throughout my career.”

Heruela and Khobuntin claimed the entire playoffs against Ginebra, San Miguel Beer and Magnolia proved difficult.

“I think the whole playoffs are difficult. But I think they’re all different, especially because every game you don’t know what to expect. We went back and forth, and just like what coach Josh said earlier, there were lots of adjustments. San Miguel is the better and more experienced team. They are really tough to beat,”said Heruela, who might have suffered a possible partial tear during the series against San Miguel.

“We also know Magnolia as a champion team. We have a similar game, we love to run. Lucky enough, we came out on top. It was a fun series.”

Said Khobuntin: “Para sa akin, both series mahirap talaga dahil experienced na sila sa ganung sitwasyon. Wala kang mapili sa San Miguel or Magnolia. San Miguel is different sa Magnolia. San Miguel is bigger kahit hindi sila mabilis, pero grabe ang experience nila. They have June Mar (Fajardo) pa.”

“Sa Magnolia, they’re.small at parang same sila ng game namin.

Running team din. But credit sa mga coaches namin dahil sa mga adjustments namin sa team,” added Khobuntin ,who played for the National University Bulldogs in the UAAP.
