This was the statement of the Presidential Communications Office on reports that former First Lady Imelda Marcos passed away.

“Fake news’ yung kumakalat na balitang wala na ang dating First Lady,” according to the statement.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Marcos, upon their return to Manila from Australia, went straight to the hospital where the former First Lady was admitted.

The 94-year-old former first lady was admitted to an undisclosed hospital due to slight pneumonia and fever.

“I just spoke with my mother’s doctors. She is suffering from slight pneumonia and is running a fever. She has been put on a course of antibiotics and the doctors are confident that this will relieve her fever. She is in good spirits, has no difficulty in breathing and is resting well,” the President said in an earlier statement.
