NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Brigadier General Jonnel C. Estomo, on Tuesday, commended a medical team from the Southern Police District (SPD) who did the extraordinary thing of helping a woman give birth to a healthy baby boy in Pasay City.

“I commend the immediate action of our law enforcers for their commendable action. Ito ang patuloy na tagumpay ng ating programang S.A.F.E NCRPO kung saan ang mga pulis ay nakadeploy sa mga kalsada upang magbigay ng mas mabilis na responde sa mga katulad nito na hindi inaasahang pangyayari,” the top Metro Manila cop said.

It turned out that members of the SPD Medical and Dental Unit (SPDMDU) were traveling along Jose W. Diokno Boulevard in Pasay City around 9:30 a.m. Sunday when some NCRPO trainees who were conducting police visibility in the area called their attention regarding a woman who was already having birth pains.

Estomo said that the SPD personnel wasted no time helping the woman who spontaneously delivered her baby inside their house. After that, the policemen brought the mother and her son to the Ospital ng Maynila for further medical attention.

The “good Samaritans” police officers were Lieutenant Dickson Abuan and Staff Sergeant Mary Joyce Apada of the Pasay City Police Station and Police Executive Master Sergeant Joseph Marlou Genilla, SSgt. Cristina Tolentino, Corporals Aaron Jed Reyes, and Rafael Rayco of the SPDMDU.
