EPD creates task force to secure Palaro athletes

THE Eastern Police District (EPD) has created a Task Force Palarong Pambansa 2023 to ensure the safety of athletes, delegates, and the general public during the whole duration of the national sporting event from July 26 to August 5 in Marikina City.

Marikina City Mayor Marcelino Marcy” Teodoro ordered Marikina City Police Chief P/Col. Earl Castillo to ensure that safety and security arrangements are in place.

“We have met with our local police authorities to review their comprehensive security plan for a safe, peaceful, and orderly Palaro for the protection of athletes, delegates, and the general public,” Mayor Teodoro said.

According to Col. Castillo, a total of 1,088 security personnel will be deployed to secure the delegations during the event.

The Task Group Palarong Pambansa will be headed by NCRPO chief Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., while EPD director PBrig. Gen. Wilson Asueta will serve as Sub-Task Force Commander and Col. Castillo as Task Group Commander.

An Advance Command Post will be put in place in Marikina Sports Center. Some 60 Police Assistance Desk will be assigned in 31 billeting areas and 29 playing venues.

Meanwhile, Department of Education (DepEd) conveyed the agency’s appreciation to the partner for their support to the Palarong Pambansa 2023 during the Turnover Ceremony of Sponsorships and Donations held at the Bulwagan ng Karunugan, DepEd Central Office recently.

Spearheaded by the External Partnerships Service (EPS), the turnover ceremony was attended by 19 DepEd-Central Office partners, who received plaques of appreciation from the Department for their support.
