PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar yesterday said he has ordered a thorough investigation into the reported abduction and eventual death of a development worker from Cebu.

Eleazar added that victim Elena Tijamo, a coordinator of the Farmers Development Center-Central Visayas (FARDEC), was reportedly abducted in Bantayan Island, Cebu in June last year but she was reported to have died in Mandaluyong City this August.

It was reported that Tijamo had an operation before she died.

Gen. Eleazar tasked concerned police units to conduct a deep probe and trace what happened since Tijamo was forcibly taken in June 2020.

“Ipinag-utos ko din sa ating Anti-Kidnapping Group na makipag-ugnayan sa pamilya at mga kaanak nitong si Tijamo para sa karagdagang impormasyon na maaaring makapagbigay linaw sa pangyayari,” the PNP chief said.

Gen. Eleazar said his men could also assist the family so they could bring home Tijamo’s remains as soon as possible.

The top cop urged those who have information about Tijamo’s supposed abduction and death to come forward and help shed light on the incident.
