Ecija trader, 3 others held for guns, grenade, P274k illegal drugs

GAPAN CITY — A businessman, who was the subject of a search operation for violation of Republic Act 10591, was nabbed along with three others after a raid on his house here on Saturday led to the seizure of assorted firearms and ammunition, hand grenade, and illegal drugs worth P274,720, police said.

The 37-year-old trader and the three othee suspects, Richard, 40, driver, Arnel, 29, and Raymond, 38, farm helper, all of Purok 3, Bgy. Bungo, this city were allegedly caught sniffing shabu during the operation that was conducted at 5:20 p.m, said Nueva Ecija acting provincial police chief Col. Jess B. Mendez.

City police head Lt. Col. Alexie A. Desamito said seized were an Armscor shotgun, Winchester cal.22 rifle, a Colt cal. 38 revolver, an airgun, MK2 hand grenade, magazine with six cal.45 bullets, shotgun sling with 13 pieces of 12-gauge ammo, ammo for cals.40, cal.9mm, and .380, 41 rounds for cal.22, six fired bullets for cal.22, and three FCCs for cal.45.

Also confiscated were six plastic sachets containing shabu and other drug paraphernalia, including cash amounting to P36,300.

Desamito said the total seized drugs weighed about 40.4 grams with a street value of P274,720.

The city police head said the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the police station for proper disposition while separate charges for violation of Republic Acts 10591, 9516 and 9165 are being readied for filing against the arrested suspects.
