Driver held for gun, ammo in Batangas
A 45-YEAR-OLD driver was arrested after being caught with a gun and drugs at a police checkpoint in Rosario Batangas on Sunday.
Rosario Municipal Police Station commander Major Carlo C. Caceres identified the suspect as Renante Miranda, married, and a resident of Sitio Manahan, Bgy. Sta Isabel, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.
Around 5:40 p.m. in Bgy Quilib, this town, personnel of the Rosario MPS led by police deputy Major Arnold P. Bianzon flagged down the suspect who was riding on a motorcycle without a helmet.
Police Corporal Atienza asked for his license for verification and when the suspect pulled his wallet from his pocket, the officer saw the pistol protruding from Miranda’s hip.
The suspect failed to present documents for the firearm and was arrested.
The suspect also yielded a plastic sachet of suspected shabu.
Police also confiscated a Colt 1911 cal. 45 pistol with SN 189725 with magazine inserted loaded with seven pieces of live ammunition and a leather pouch containing five live bullets for a cal. 45 and the Yamaha RS motorcycle with plate number WC 1146.
