Hindi nakadalo si Julia Barretto, ang pinakabatang leading lady ni Aga Muhlach, sa media conference ng forthcoming movie nilang Ikaw Pa Rin ang Pipiliin Ko.

Valid naman ang dahilan ni Julia dahil naipit siya sa extended taping ng guesting niya sa Magandang Buhay kaya hindi siya nakaalis para humabol sa mediacon.

Para rin naman sa promo ng Ikaw Pa Rin ang Pipiliin Ko ang guesting ni Julia sa nasabing morning show.

Sayang nga lang dahil marami sanang nai-share si Julia sa first-time role niya bilang choir singer.

Kumanta rin siya sa movie ng Ikaw ni George Canseco kasama ang bandang Cup of Joe.

Actually, binigyan nila ng bagong arrangement ang classic OPM hit na Ikaw.

Ang buong pelikula ay tribute kay Canseco. In fact, Finding Canseco ang dati nitong titulo.

Unang ina-announce ang pelikula noong July 2023 at ipinakilala rin sina Aga at Julia sa media bago nag-umpisang mag-shooting sa Baguio.

Seven months after, pinalitan ang title ng romantic line na Ikaw Pa Rin ang Pipiliin Ko.

Paliwanag ni Direk Denise, “We underwent some discussions before we started working.

“We decided that the film must reach out to the newer generation who doesn’t know Canseco, so we changed the title. This is also our love letter and tribute to George Canseco.

“Canseco was a part of the lives of many Filipinos. In most of the teleseryes, Canseco’s songs became the theme. In events, occasions, there was always a Canseco song in it.

“Why don’t we use his music because his songs are beautiful? So, we honored that. We want the film to appeal to the younger generation, not just those who knew Canseco. We want to bring Canseco to today’s generation,” dagdag ni Direk Denise.

The milieu of the film will be the chorale singing the immortal songs of George Canseco. Ikaw, in particular, was re-imagined by today’s band, Cup of Jose, with Julia.

Working with Aga admittedly intimidated the lady director.

“And also Julia,” aniya. “But both of them are very humble and down to earth. We didn’t have any problem even once while filming. After we talked about what we would all do, our filming was a breeze.

“Aga and Julia are very spontaneous with their characters. Mas organic ‘yung dating. If they want to do something with their character, they were very open to discuss it with me. We talk about every scene they would do.

“I asked them what their characters would do and what approach they wanted to do. They were very particular about their characters,” pahayag pa ni Direk Denise.

Anyway, sa February 7 na magbubukas ng Ikaw Pa Rin ang Pipiliin Ko sa mga sinehan nationwide.
