EIGHT known drug suspects in Central Visayas (CV) were arrested by agents of the Police Regional Office 7 (PRO 7) during separate anti-narcotics operations late last week, which resulted in the confiscation of over P2.2 million worth of shabu, a report to Philippine National Police Officer-in-Charge (PNP-OIC) Lieutenant General Vicente D. Danao Jr. said on Monday.

PRO7 Director Brig. Gen. Roque Edgardo DP Vega said that almost P2 million worth of the so-called “poor man’s cocaine” were recovered by his men in two buy-bust operations in Cebu City last Saturday.

The 1st drug sting in Bgy. San Roque led to the arrest of one “high-value target” (HVT) in Region 7, who yielded some P380,000 worth of shabu.

Another anti-narcotics operation conducted at the Ludo Cemetery late Saturday evening netted two suspects and some P1.3 million worth of shabu.

Around 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, two more top drug targets in the region were arrested in a sting in Bgy. Tao in Tagbilaran City in Bohol. Confiscated from the duo’s possession was an estimated P544,000 worth of shabu.

Two other “notorious” drug suspects were arrested in another anti-narcotics operation in Bgy. Lagtang in Talisay City in Cebu yielded an estimated P680,000 worth of shabu, said Vega.

All eight suspects will be facing non-bailable charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Lt. Gen. Danao congratulated the PRO7 for continuing an “all-out” effort against illegal drug trafficking and abuse in Central Visayas.
