Crime gang member, 2 former rebels surrender in CL

CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – A crime group member and two members of the CPP-NPA on Saturday surrendered to authorities in Central Luzon.

Gener Gatbonton, a high-value target and a member of a crime group, voluntarily submitted himself to the joint operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Unit-Pampanga, 1st and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Companies.

Police said Gatbonton’s crime gang is involved in robbery and illegal drug trade in the towns of Mexico, Candaba, and Magalang in Pampanga, as well as in nearby provinces.

In Pura, Tarlac, “Ka Rod,” a former member of the Alyansa ng Manggagawang Bukid ng Asyenda Luisita (AMBALA), withdrew support to CPP-NPA and surrendered to the Pura police under the KASIMBAYANAN program in Bgy. Poblacion 2, Pura, Tarlac.

“Ka Rod” also turned over one homemade cal. .38 revolver.

Meanwhile, personnel of the 301st Mobile Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3, together with the 1st and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, Bulacan Police Provincial Office, Balagtas Municipal Police Station, San Rafael Municipal Police Station, Malolos City Police Station and the 70th Infantry Battalion-Philippine Army afacilitated the voluntary surrender of “Ka Dolpo,” a former member of the New People’s Army operating in Bulacan.

“Ka Dolpo” also turned over a cal. .9mm pistol, one magazine and five cal. . 9mm live bullets.

Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo said all member agencies of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) 3 will continue the implementation of various programs devised by the PNP against insurgency, terrorism and criminality to achieve peace in the region.
